if you have any kind of yarn or string, as well as a piece of cardboard, you and your family can do this, too! All ages can take part in this process, even if they are just observing a quiet moment while someone else helps to combine pieces together. :)
I'm excited to share this idea with you all since the possible outcomes are limitless with this project! It would be fun to ask your little ones to go on a bit of a scavenger hunt and look for natural linear objects around the yard or on a walk together they could use to create a weaving together.
Grab a sturdy piece of cardboard. It can be any size, but for little fingers, it might be best to try to keep it small at first while we practice working together, intertwining our found objects through string. I cut apart an old cardboard box to use for this project.

With a couple yards of any kind of string or twine you can find, wrap it around your cardboard piece, creating a "warp" on your cardboard "loom". You might find it easier to tape the ends of your "warp" down on the cardboard, or you can tie little knots - whatever you need to do to secure your warp down.

And from here, my guidelines are to see how many different linear objects you can find and arrange onto your new little loom!
I took a walk around outside and picked up a couple of leaves and a few blades of grass to create a little weaving with.

Remember - your found objects, or "weft" pieces do not need to be woven into your warp threads in any particular way. Experiment with your little ones to create a fun texture! It's more about the process than the final product, anyway.
