being wary - a safe environment
this piece has been carefully installed in my apartment's -pointless- fireplace, to brighten up the space that I'll never use for it's sole purpose. it's too hot where I live, anyways.
made of wool, it tells a little story of irony.

I started by acquiring a large bag of raw wool and felting a majority of it into one solid piece by stepping on it over and over again in my bathtub -a less than common practice in my space- to get a large and malleable material that could fit within the walls of my fireplace, turning it from a hard, cold surface to something more soft and serene and dreamlike.

it came together slowly but surely as I intertwined and hand felted little pieces of wool and yarn into this new, obscure space.

after readjusting and fluffing up the fibrous background, I wrapped yarn around the natural arches that formed on my material. then I began placing more elements within the foreground, mimicking flames or goblin arches; or whatever the mind decides it's looking at in the moment.

below, I've included a video of the finished installation.
